The Dog Edit Photography Competition 2026
Terms & Conditions
1. Promoter
The competition is organised by The Dog Edit (@the_dog_edit).
This competition is independently organised by The Dog Edit and is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Instagram or the Dog Photography Awards.
2. Competition Period
The competition opens on 14 October 2026 and closes on 31 October 2026 at 11:59pm UK time.
Entries received after the closing date will not be considered.
Following the closing date, The Dog Edit will select up to five finalists, whose photographs will be presented to the public for voting.
Public voting will remain open for seven calendar days from the publication of the finalists’ Instagram carousel. The exact opening and closing dates and times will be announced alongside the finalists.
3. How to Enter
To enter, participants must:
Follow The Dog Edit on Instagram (@the_dog_edit).
Share a photograph of their dog in the comments section of the official competition announcement post.
No purchase is necessary to enter.
Only entries submitted during the competition period will be considered.
4. Eligibility
The competition is open internationally to participants aged 18 or over.
Entries must feature a dog and consist of photographs taken by the entrant or submitted with the necessary permission of the photographer.
Entrants must have the right to grant The Dog Edit permission to reproduce their submitted photograph for competition purposes.
The Dog Edit reserves the right to select an alternative winner if applicable legal restrictions or delivery limitations prevent the prize from being awarded or delivered to the selected entrant’s country of residence.
5. The Prize
One winner will receive one copy of the Dog Photography Awards 2026 annual book.
The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or an alternative prize.
The Dog Edit will cover the cost of the book, shipping and any applicable customs duties and import charges associated with delivery.
6. Finalist Selection
Following the competition’s closing date, The Dog Edit will shortlist up to five photographs.
Finalists will be selected based on creativity, personality and/or storytelling.
Photographs may demonstrate any one or more of these qualities. Entrants are not required to meet all three criteria.
The Dog Edit will contact shortlisted entrants before publishing their photographs in the finalists’ carousel.
7. Public Voting
The shortlisted photographs will be published in a dedicated Instagram carousel on The Dog Edit’s official account.
Each photograph will be assigned a number and identified by the dog’s name.
Members of the public can vote for their favourite photograph by commenting the corresponding name or number on the finalists’ carousel.
The following rules apply:
Each Instagram account may cast one vote.
Only votes submitted in the comments of the official finalists’ carousel will be counted.
Votes must clearly identify one finalist by name or number.
Where an account submits multiple votes, only its first valid vote will count.
Votes received after the announced closing time will not be counted.
Voters do not need to follow The Dog Edit to participate.
The photograph receiving the highest number of valid votes will be declared the winner.
In the event of a tie, The Dog Edit will select the winner from the tied photographs using the original judging criteria.
The Dog Edit reserves the right to disregard votes reasonably believed to be automated, fraudulent or otherwise manipulated.
8. Winner Notification
The winner will be contacted by Instagram direct message from The Dog Edit’s official account within seven calendar days of the public voting period closing.
The winner will have seven calendar days from the date of notification to respond and provide the postal address required for prize delivery.
If the winner does not respond within this period, The Dog Edit reserves the right to award the prize to the eligible finalist with the next highest number of valid votes.
9. Use of Submitted Photographs
Entrants retain ownership of their photographs.
By entering the competition, participants grant The Dog Edit a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to reproduce their submitted photograph on The Dog Edit’s Instagram account and website solely for purposes connected with the competition.
This includes announcing the competition, presenting shortlisted photographs for public voting and announcing the winner.
Photographers will be credited wherever reasonably possible.
Photographs will not be sold or used for unrelated commercial purposes without the photographer’s additional permission.
10. Prize Delivery
The Dog Photography Awards 2026 annual book is currently available for pre-order and is due to ship in early November 2026.
Prize fulfilment is dependent on the book’s release and availability.
The Dog Edit will arrange delivery as soon as reasonably practicable following the book’s release and confirmation of the winner’s delivery details.
Delivery times may vary depending on the winner’s location and international shipping arrangements.
11. Personal Information
The winner’s name and postal address will be requested solely for the purpose of arranging prize delivery.
These details will only be used for prize fulfilment and will not be retained by The Dog Edit once delivery has been completed, except where retention is required by law.
Personal information will not be used for marketing purposes or shared with third parties except where necessary to arrange delivery.
Any information provided to a delivery provider will be subject to that provider’s applicable privacy arrangements.
12. General Conditions
The Dog Edit reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not meet the competition requirements.
The Dog Edit also reserves the right to make reasonable changes to the competition where necessary due to circumstances beyond its control, provided these changes do not unfairly disadvantage participants.
The Dog Edit’s decisions regarding eligibility, finalist selection and the application of the competition rules will be final, subject to applicable law.
